This could be a fabulous hotel. Because of the location, the spacious rooms and potential facilities and present skillful and friendly staff personnel of which some work here for over 30 years. However, the room we stayed in was outdated, not taken care of and certainly not clean. Management seems to lack vision on how to position this place. They clearly and noticeably have cut on facilities and maintenance which has had a negative effect on the customer experience. We found in our room two empty refrigerators, no minibar, poor amenities (such as shower gel), no coffee/tea making facilities. The shower curtain had mold on it (staff replaced it after mentioning) and the room was dusty and in need of renovation. The ‘market’ downstairs does not provide high quality products, but charges big time for products you can easily get cheaper with the food stalls available at Grand Central Station. So overall this felt like a mismatch completely. We were charged to the max for poorly and below average facilities. It’s sad, because the place has so much potential to become one of the top hotels in NYC.
