Lovely spacious newly refurbished two bedroom barn conversion with parking and enclosed garden, perfect for families, walkers and those wishing to get away from it all. Little Stadbury combines the convenience of being located within a couple of miles of stunning sandy beaches, lovely welcoming pubs serving delicious food and the historic market town of Kingsbridge whilst tucked away down its own private mile long drive.
The cottage has been completely refurbished and has all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine and central heating and is comfortably and stylishly furnished with luxurious feather and down duvets and pillows and fluffy towels. Dogs are most welcome and just in case they happen to get a little wet and muddy, there is an outside tap with hose, and we provide old towels to dry them! Please note there is an additional cost of GBP 30 per dog. We also provide a highchair, travel cot and stair gate for the little ones by arrangement, and the garden is safe and enclosed with patio, BBQ and grassy area, accessed from the French doors by the kitchen. There is ample parking for two cars. There is also the use of our field for ball games and exercising your dog.
Guests can now try their hand, by arrangement with Sarah, at pottery in the recently completed Little Piggery Pottery studio. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced potters alike, you can try your hand at throwing on the wheel, slab building, decorating and glazing. Any items that you make can be fired in the kiln here and sent on to you as a memento of your stay.
Within walking distance is the village of Bantham and its gorgeous sandy beach, (voted one of Europe’s finest beaches) which is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months and where you can learn to surf, paddle board and windsurf or just sunbathe, sleep or read! Whilst dogs are not allowed on the main beach between May and the end of September, they ARE allowed on the vast beach (at low tide) at the mouth of the estuary between Bantham and Bigbury on Sea. Little Stadbury is also yards from the Avon Estuary Walk route, from which you can pick up the Coastal Path. There are a number of pubs within walking distance including the excellent 14th century Sloop Inn and the Fisherman's Rest (Aveton Gifford), while further afield you are spoilt for choice in terms of award winning eateries. There are village shops in Bantham, Aveton Gifford and Churchstow, and the market town of Kingsbridge is three miles away with a choice of supermarkets and interesting artisanal shops.
Modbury is also worth a visit, particularly to the Wild Goose antique shop. The South Devon Chilli Farm is nearby at Loddiswell. Salcombe is around 7 miles away and Dartmouth 12 for those of a nautical disposition.
Burgh Island is well worth a visit, particularly for lunch at the Pilchard Inn (est 1336), steeped in fishing history and the Hotel is famed for its links to Agatha Christie. When the tide is in the sea tractor will take you there from Bigbury on Sea.
Little Stadbury is superbly located to enjoy everything that the South Hams and South Devon has to offer while providing peace and quiet without being completely off the beaten track.
