we were originally put in Cabin #1, which was not Clean. It was full of dead bugs, Mold and mouse poop. The deck was all overgrown with tree branches, and the furniture was covered in mildew and dirt, like it hadnt been used in months, and there was a fallen tree blocking access to the river. We spoke with Tim the property maintenance man, and he was wonderful! He allowed us to move All of our stuff to the next cabin over. The second cabin was Beautiful!! It was clean, and didn't smell of mold and mildew. We didnt see any evidence of mice or have a bug problem at the second cabin. The river was accessible for fishing, and the deck was clean.
** Please Note that You will not have GPS sevice. There is a main lodge, and a huge property where the cabins are sporadically placed. We had a very hard time actually finding the property. Also I drive a dodge challenger, I would suggest you drive something better for off roading, Dont get me wrong, it was absolutely gorgeous, but they should tell you that the roads to the cabins are 2 tracks, very narrow, and Sand...It was raining when we arrived, and my car barely made it all the way back to the 1st cabin. Again the Maintenance guy came to our rescue, and opened up a gate to a main road, so that I didnt have to keep chancing getting stuck on the property. Other than the need to move cabins, 1st thing in the morning on the second day, (we tried to stick it out) and the lack of information on entry and surroundings, we had an amazing 4 day trip. If you are looking for isolation, river access, and forest exploring then this is perfect!!
We drove about 30 mins to get to manistee for a day trip. But mostly we stayed at the cabin. There are hiking trails maintained on the property as well. (Beware of ticks) I would definitely stay here again, and drive my pick up instead.
We had a group of 7, 3 adults and 4 teenagers. Everyone had their own bed, the way they set up the rooms is ideal for large groups.
