'Lovely hotel. Will say before all else - the food was amazing! Breakfast was brilliant but we also ate in the restaurant the night of and this was delicious. Would drive 1.5hours to come back again! Otherwise the hotel seems to be a little hidden gem. Staff very welcoming to us (and 2 under twos - always a challenge). Very accommodating, great communication and friendly. 'What a gem of a place - amazing rooms (I stayed in room 1), comfy beds with great in room amenities and a very pleasant shower. The team are all friendly, which combined with a reasonable selection of ales, a nice ambience and good pub food, leads to a great place to stay. Will be staying again to break my long journies!'

'Amazing. Arrived early just as they had finishy cleaning. No problem. Allowed us in good welcome pack, milk tea coffee biscuits. Everything very tastefully presented. Nothing except a playground in the village of Warcop. 5 miles to Appleby in one direction. Kirby Stephen in the other. Lovely countryside.'

'Good location for a night, easy to be able to have dinner, breakfast was cold (toast) and the coffee tasted soapy, enough parking available, the room was not really clean (dust, walls broken, mold) it is a bit dated and the average age is over 60. The location is very good. The music entertainment (Mikey T.) was not really our taste, however he did his best. There was no warm welcome from the receptionist, she was a bit snappy.'
