Watch out for their kitchen hygiene!
We chose this hotel to relax and recover from staying in hospital in Kathmandu after a urinary infection. We had stayed there for two days, during which it rained and hailed a lot and because there is nothing else on walking distance we ate all meals in the hotel’s restaurant. During these two days there were hardly any guests, which made us worry how they managed to stay open. At first the food in the restaurant was ok (apart from them asking us if we wanted mineral water or ‘normal’ water, the later is dangerous to drink for foreigners, because of giardia and viruses etc), but then during the second day in the evening, I contracted severe bacterial food poisoning from their food (we only ate their restaurant food, no snacks in between, we didn’t bring any), ending up in hospital for two days. I spoke with the manager while in hospital, he said they didn’t have a case of food poisoning in 2,5 years, so it couldn’t have been from their kitchen. But it’s absolutely certain I contracted the food poisoning from their kitchen, I would not recommend eating here again if your life depends on it, definitely not 4* hotel worthy. The swimming pools looks nice, but because of the weather and then being in hospital we didn’t get to swim in it.
The bathroom in the hotelroom smelled really bad, a sewage smell, but this could have been due to the heavy rain. The view from the rooftop terrace is beautiful.
