Hemlock Hollow..is een op maat gebouwd houten huis met 2 slaapkamers met kathedraalplafonds en een indoor whirlpoolbad voor twee personen .... en een bubbelbad op een uitgebreid dek! ....

Hemlock Hollow is prachtig afgelegen en ligt in een High Mountain Hollow naast een kabbelende beek ..... The Cabin bevindt zich net buiten het Shenandoah National Park in de buurt van Big Meadows.

  ... Bekijk de zonsondergang vanaf de overdekte veranda ...... Ontspan op het dek om de sprankelende nachthemel te vangen na het grillen van het diner .... Misschien zit je liever gewoon rond het kampvuur ...

... Er is genoeg te doen met wandelen naar Big Meadows of vissen in de nabijgelegen privévijver. Alle activiteiten van Luray en de Shenandoah-vallei liggen op slechts 20 minuten rijden ....

Worst experience ever
There was no stay. The property owner did not provide a code to access the property. There was a backup plan communicated that I trusted would be honored. It was not. There was a phone at the back of the house, but there was no dial tone for this non-working phone. I took a picture of the 2 toll free numbers so I could drive back out to where I had cell phone service. Once there, no one answered the phone on either number. No one returned my call as I had requested, either. If that wasn’t bad enough, VRBO has done nothing to help except act in abusive, unethical, and unprofessional ways- more than implying that my inability to access the property was my fault. Unbelievable. VRBO took my money and has done nothing but give me the runaround since that time.

No frills….just chillz
We had a great time getting away and having a secluded, private and peaceful place to stay. We drove around Shenandoah’s Sky Line Dr and came back to amazing weather and spent a few hours in the hot tub. Accessing the property was easy peasy and the property manager was super quick to respond to any questions. Very relaxing, exactly what we needed! With that being said…the cleanliness was my biggest issue. The futon in the living room is red with black stains all over it, just filthy. We had to cover it with a comforter to sit on it without being grossed out. It wouldn’t be too big of an issue if it wasn’t the only comfortable place to sit in the room aside from the wooden bench with the thinnest cushions on it. The mats on the floor in the bedroom were a bath mat on one side and a toilet mat on the other, I couldn’t help but wonder how old and dirty these may be. Cabinet door in one bedroom was broken and hanging from one hinge. It would be a nice cabin that I would come back to with a little TLC and some more comfortable seating in the living room.

We had a great time here. Very secluded, nice looking cabin, hot tub, and close to Luray, which my wife has never been so we went there on her birthday. All in all it was a nice escape and we would go back again. However there are some things you need to know before booking. 1. There is WiFi, but the password isn't provided so you have to ask. I recommend asking before you go, since there is absolutely no cell service there. 2. No cell service. There is supposed to be a land line, but you couldn't make calls only recieve calls. 3. The only communication we had with Patrick was through the VRBO website, even though we told him we had no cell service and he had to call us on the cabin phone. He still answered on the VRBO site. In order to get cell service to check the website we had to drive all the way back to the entrance of the community. Thankfully he did respond to my message on the VRBO site, but again, we had to drive to find cellular service. It took us two hours to get set up and comfortable. 4. The hot tub was clean, full, and nice. We enjoyed it two nights while we were there, the third night snowed and we just didn't feel like going out in it. The only issue is that the jets are extremely weak, not like my hot tub at all. 5. Two person whirlpool tub. Ver spacious, clean, and it looked nice. The only problem we had was that the jets did not work. We tried everything but it still didn't work. The wife still loved it. I would go back.

Cabin in the woods
Spend the Easter weekend with the family in the cabin, and we got what we where looking for. If you want to get away from things this place is right, no cell service (Verizon, ATT), but there's WiFi if you want to stay connected or want to prevent some meltdowns, sat TV and Netflix are available You're away from everything, off a gravel road with some nice ditches, so don't bring your lowered sport car, and I'm not sure if there's any grub-hub coming out there, so make sure you bring what you need. The well water from the tap is fine. Now, this is a wood cabin, the doors might to close 100% and there are some gaps in the walls and you will hear what's going on in the neighboring rooms. Also, you're in the wood, there will be bugs and critters you will have to live with it, and as you're in a forrest you're not having much of a view but trees and sky. Now, to the reason many are looking for this cabin, yes, the hot tub works, but it's running on 110V, changing water temps will take a while. When arrived it was at 86F, getting it up to 104F took until the next day, it was freezing overnight, what probably didn't help to heat up faster. As a verdict, we expected all of this, hence we enjoyed our stay a lot, and my son is asking when we're going back to the cabin.

Worst experience of our lives
Just to start, we never stayed. Why? The lock was not working and no one would answer our calls for help. After spending the day in our car with our senior dog to get there, not being able to get in is bad enough. But the phone that is on the back of the cabin didn't work so we had to drive up and down the mountain to get cellphone service to call the numbers given for no one to answer or reply to the voicemail we left. Once returning to the town of Stanley, VRBO answered and said an agent would call us back for other accommodations (because Patrick the owner could not be reached) after being on hold for over 3 hours during our drive back home, they never answered or called us back. Once finally home, Patrick finally responded to a message sent to him on the VRBO sight. It was 10 Pm! Said he was in a meeting from 6-8. We originally called and left a voicemail with him at 530. And even though he had gotten out if his meeting at 8 he never called us. Ever!!! Then all said and done, he didn't want to give us a full refund because him canceling would cause him to pay a fee! But he wanted me to pay the fee? I just also wanted to drop the little side note that it was my anniversary and it was completely ruined!!! Again, worst experience with VRBO and a property owner ever. And of course he claims the lock was fine the day before when the cleaning crew was there. I beg to differ because we looked in the hot tub that was running and it was not full and it was filthy and smelled bad! This guy is a liar and makes constant excuses! Just look back at all of his reviews. His responses are all just excuses and blaming everyone else. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS MAN!!!!

Business Retreat
This property was exactly what we needed. Aside from the critters that came to visit it was overall a fun stay. A bit of a moldy smell in the bathroom and cob webs in many corners, some bugs around but that’s to be expected. The only unfortunate factor was the mice that were scurrying about, I caught one running from the built in couch across the room onto the built in table then up the wall and behind a crack over the stove which was a little concerning. Also the jets int the tub did not work. Aside from those small instances. It was a great trip my wife and I were able to reconnect and gain some head way towards our business ventures. We were able to really focus and get away from the hectic daily life and enjoy the peace that this wonderful cabin had to offer.

The locations of the cabin was nice and secluded. The view is mainly of the mountain side. The cabin was very warm from the fireplace so it stayed very cozy. However, the cabin could use some TLC and cleaning. The tv in the living room is very old. There is directv and very good Wi-Fi (no cell service, we have Verizon). The cabin could use a good cleaning. The fan and door ways had cobwebs and lots of dust. The jets in the bath tub had dirt and debris. The hot tub was the worse though. There was a ring around the hot tub, a musty odor and the water was not clear. We were not comfortable getting in there! We enjoyed each other and the towns surrounding. This cabin has ALOT of potential…. If it was actually cleaned well!

Hot tub and furniture issues
The hot tub was not working. We were directed to fill the hot tub up with water as it only had about 25% of the tub full. It took an hour to fill the tub. We were promised the maintenance man would come within 45 minute. It didn't happen. We messaged he never showed and they latered promised he would come to put chemicals into the tub the next day. The next day we had to message again and they finally showed up after sundown. The hot tub never got hot and was unusable for the stay. The furniture is very hard to sit on as are the beds. Expect to not wake up relaxed but with back pain. The unit was not designed well. The floor tiles in bathroom were loose. The coffee maker didn't work. The TV does not get reception. The puzzles provided for entertainment are missing pieces. If you want a no frills cabin that may not have a working hot tub, this may be your place. Other wise I would look elsewhere. One good thing is the heat works well. In my honest opinion, I will not return. I go to cabins at least twice a year and this one is off the return to list.

A little disappointed
Reserving this cabin, I understood it would be remote (no phone service or WiFi), and that was fine. I did expect a the cabin itself to be in a little better condition. It was clean, but definitely not in the best shape. Furniture was uncomfortable. The tv, while it worked, is small and old? We reserved for a party of 5 and there were only 3 towels available. We had to go purchase extras so we would have enough for our stay. The hot tub was nice, and really about the only thing that excused the other issues. We’ve rented cabins via VRBO before and have been satisfied. This was the first time I was disappointed and felt I paid for way more than I got. Pricing is high considering the shape of the cabin and the uncomfortable furniture.

Great weekend getaway
We enjoyed the opportunity to unplug and enjoy the outdoors. This cabin is located in the perfect place. Close enough to experience Luray and the surrounding areas yet secluded enough to enjoy the the mountains. The cabin was as described and was clean. We enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. It was a great weekend getaway.

As expected for a secluded cabin
Overall my dog and I enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean. There were some larger ants roaming around inside but that's expected for a secluded cabin out in the woods. If you're planning on spending time indoors watching TV, this cabin likely won't meet your needs. The tiny TV/VCR combo is obviously dated. And the remotes did not have any batteries in them. The jets in the indoor and outdoor jacuzzi did not work for me (even after following the user instructions). Fortunately there is a landline phone as I did not have cell phone service (AT&T). The property manager did provide me with a WiFi password. WiFi is a bit spotty, mostly only working indoors, not on the patio. Overall, a decent secluded cabin. Small adjustments can go a long way.
