'very charming and a great location - close to the french quarter action but not drowning in it (you can head down the quieter streets if you want a break from the craziness). if you're familiar with french hotels, you'll love it. if you expect an american hotel, you'll probably be confused.(i.e. no elevator, leave your key with the concierge, skinny doors). you can hear the calliope from the steamship on the patio but fortunately not in your room! 'Thank you for the stay. The staff here were awesome, especially the concierge and the dive bar staff Julie and Anthony. Thr hotel was very cute, definitely older and more rustic. The only thing we had issues with in the room was the floor was very old and had a carpet that was seemingly falling apart and was kind of soft and dirty. Definitely needs updating. 'Incredibly beautiful historic hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel has gated entry which feels secure and private. 'Melrose Mansion is a great place to stay in, if you are visiting New Orleans. The rooms are very nice and spacious and have a great look & feel. Our room was very clean, which is quite important to us. Across the street is a bar, which sometimes had some loud guests, which is the only downside we can think of. The breakfast is sufficient and the staff is very kind & helpful. The pool is a nice addition to the overall stay. Highly recommended!'
